QGIS CAD Sync QGIS 4 compatibility
QGIS 4 ready Active
Yes — QGIS CAD Sync supports QGIS 4 (declared max version 99.99.0).
Bidirectional DWG and DXF conversion for QGIS, with a background sync tool that keeps a QGIS layer updated automatically when the file is saved in AutoCAD.
About
This plugin provides two separate tools. The first tool is file conversion. It requires ODA File Converter, which must be installed separately (free, from opendesign.com). Four Processing algorithms are added under Processing Toolbox, DWG / DXF Conversion: Convert DWG file to DXF, Bulk convert DWG folder to DXF, Convert DXF file to DWG, and Bulk convert DXF folder to DWG. Bulk conversions skip files that were already converted by default, so they are safe to run again. The input folder is checked before conversion starts, a timeout prevents the process from hanging, and any files that fail to convert are reported by name. Successful DXF results can be added to the current project automatically. These algorithms can be run from the Processing Toolbox, from qgis_process, from Processing models, or from PyQGIS scripts. The second tool is Live Sync. It does not require ODA File Converter and works on its own for anyone saving DXF files directly from AutoCAD. It is a dockable panel that watches DXF files on disk and reloads the matching QGIS layer automatically whenever AutoCAD saves changes. It loads from a temporary copy of the file rather than the original, so AutoCAD is never blocked from saving. It waits for the file to finish writing before reading it, supports pausing and manual sync, can keep a version history, logs all activity, shows the sync status of each file, and saves the watch list in the QGIS project so it is restored automatically the next time the project is opened. The plugin works on QGIS 3.x and 4.x, on Windows, macOS, and Linux. On headless Linux, xvfb is required for the conversion algorithms only. Developed by Kelvin Moseti.
