About
SNYM_CMES (Coal Mine Environmental Screen) adds an "NDVI Degradation Flag" tool to the QGIS Processing Toolbox. It compares a "before" and "after" multiband raster of the same area, computes NDVI for each date, classifies the change into severe degradation / mild degradation / stable / improvement, and reports the area (in hectares) covered by each class. Built as the first module of a larger coal mining environmental decision-support toolkit for a mining engineering PhD project. Designed to run entirely on freely available satellite imagery (Sentinel-2, Landsat) with no field survey data as a prerequisite. Both input rasters must share the same extent, resolution and CRS; use the built-in "Align Rasters" tool first if they do not. Dependencies: NumPy and GDAL only, both shipped with standard QGIS installations — no extra Python packages need to be installed.
